What Precisely is Dedicated Servers Hosting?
When we talk about hosting web servers, there are 3 major categories - shared hosting servers, VPS (virtual servers) and dedicated servers. Shared servers accommodate lots of customers and therefore the system resources per user account are limited, virtual private servers offer more configuration autonomy, but also affect other private virtual hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized imprudently, and dedicated servers give you the liberty to perform everything you decide without intervening with anyone else.
Why would you require a dedicated servers?
Dedicated servers are generally much more expensive than shared servers or VPS web servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is rather simple. If your corporation has a large-scale web site, or simply has very exact server architecture requirements, the most relevant choice is a dedicated servers. For somebody who is ready to invest in security and reliability, the greater price is of no concern. You are granted full server root access and can use 100 percent of the hosting web server's resources without anyone else sharing these system resources and intervening with your online portals.
The majority of web hosting corporations, including us at ComputerWorks Hosting, provide several hardware architectures you can select from in consonance with your demands. The hardware architectures offer different types of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and server hard disk sizes and different monthly bandwidth usage quotas. You can pick a hosting CP, which is a useful GUI if you wish to use the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes solely and prefer not to use a Secure Shell terminal for all the modifications you will be making. We offer three types of web hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The hosting CP of your preference
If you are a self-reliant Linux user (our dedicated hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could administer your dedicated servers via a Secure Shell console only. That, however, could be awkward, even more so if you decide to grant root-level access to someone else who has less technical proficiency than yourself. That is why having hosting CP software pre-activated is a fine idea. The Hepsia Control Panel GUI that we provide does not give you full root access and is mainly suitable for someone who runs numerous web sites that devour a lot of resources, but wants to administer the web pages, databases and electronic mail aliases via an easy-to-use hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant full server root access and include 3 access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell hosting plans rather than using the dedicated servers only for yourself, you should choose one of these two.
Server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your dedicated server, like an unresponsive Apache or a downtime, it is advisable to have some sort of monitoring system activated. Here at ComputerWorks Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers as well. Backups are also an extra feature - the hosting supplier offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could pick a type of RAID that would permit you to have the very same data on two hard disks as a precaution in the event of a server hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted root-level access deletes something unintentionally.
